Just a Saturday

It’s just a Saturday right? A little work. Some time with our son at church. But this Easter Saturday is different. It’s the 24 hrs in the middle of the 72 hrs that Jesus settled it all. A sin problem, settled. A death problem, no more. An life issue, no longer an issue. God seemed so far away, now as near as a whisper. ”But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.” Ephesians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ Praise God!!

Its also a day that sees the evidence of what our daughter is fighting come so much to light to us. She is tough, determined, gentle and polite. But leukemia doesn’t care about any of that. It’s out to harm and destroy anything in its way if it’s not stopped. We are technically in “remission”. But the toll the fight takes on our daughter is sometimes overwhelming on some days and just plain tough on all the others. The hardest question I have to answer sometimes, well oftentimes, is “How is Lily?“. Most times the answer is “She’s ok” or “She’s hangin in there”. Most times however I could just say “She is battling ALL Leukemia, we are 8 months in and it’s having huge impacts mentally and physically on her”. Today has been a tough day. This Saturday has been a heavy Saturday on our daughter and with Court and I. I wish I could take this off her and take it all. What dad wouldn’t?

But we just are here to support her every way we can. We walk by faith and trust in The Lord to comfort, to heal and to provide what we all need just when we need it. God is faithful everyday, but especially this heavy Saturday. But Sunday is coming.
